Two-year-old Nkosi Johnson (EN-Ko-Cee) was loved by his mother, Daphne, but she was too ill to properly care for him, since both were infected with the AIDS virus. South Africans were uninformed about the disease and frightened by those infected. To avoid being shunned away, the infected kept silent about their illness. Daphne took Nkosi to a health center to live. There Gail Johnson cared for him and became his foster mother. At age 7, Nkosi became "South Africa's longest surviving AIDS baby." At 8, he was refused admission to school, because the community was afraid he'd infect others. After people became knowledgeable, Nkosi was admitted to school, paving the way for infected children and teachers. Later, granting his wish, Gail opened Nkosi's Haven, a place where infected mothers and children could stay together. At age 11, Nkosi was a guest speaker that the world's AIDS conference, "Breaking the Silence." Later, he and Gail visited the U.S. to raise public awareness of AIDS. When Nkosi died at age 12, thousands honored him for having the courage to speak out.

Daniel Radcliffe beat out 16,000 other wannabes for the lead role in the movie Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. Based on J. K. Rowling's best-selling book, the film took nearly six months to complete and permiered November 2001.

Discussing his student role at Hogwarts, a boarding school for wizards, Daniel said that the invisibility cloak was his favorite magical effect, but flying also scored points with him. Daniel performed most of his own stunts, and his favorite scene was The Mirror of Erised. "While it is quite a short scene, it was the most emotional one for me to act," he explains.

"When I'm off the set, I'm Daniel, but when I'm on it, I'm Harry...I'm a tiny bit like Harry, 'cos I'd like to have an owl. Harry is loyal, curious and brave, and I like to think that I am as well." Harry is an orphaned son of two powerful wizards; Daniel's dad is a literary agent and his mom's a casting director.

Prior to landing the role as Harry Potter, Daniel acted in the BBC's television production of David Copperfield and had a small role in The Tailor of Panama. He had also read the first two Harry Potter books. "Once I got the part," he explains, "I started them again and read all four in quick succession."

At age 12, Daniel starred in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.

Brittney Grimes' third published book consists of 72 of her original poems which she also illustrates. She says, "Life is short, so I try to notice everything in the world. We hear so many negative things, that I just want to focus on the positive things. I look at life as a precious gift. I hope that my message will travel, and that in the future there will be no evil - only peace and love." She recites her poems and delivers her message to numerous organizations and events.
