Steven Ferreiro founded Helping Others and Giving Hope (HOAGH). It is a nonprofit organization that works with churches, businesses, government agencies and charities to provide resources and food security to community members.

During its first year, the organization collaborated with Publix Supermarkets and Strange Beast Brewery, and organized a food drive. They collected approximately 20 pounds of nonperishable food donations from several local businesses. The community then distributed the food to first responders at four fire stations who couldn’t spend their Thanksgiving with their families.

Steven explained, “I have seen, firsthand, the amount of hard work our community’s first responders have done and continue to do. This was a great opportunity for us to give a little back to our community…My hope was that it would make them feel as if they were at home with their family and feel more appreciated by others in their area.”
