Truptraj Atul Pandya, 2 months after his second birthday, gave a performance on the tabla, to an audience of over 1,000 people at Mumbai’s Somaiya College. His mother, Veena Pandya, provided vocal accompaniment. “He didn’t seem at all nervous,” explained his father, Atul Pandya. “Performing on dholki was just like playing with toys for him…Rhythm is in his veins.”

At age two, Truptraj would sit beside his grandmother while she sang devotional songs at home. He would accompany her by playing aluminum dabbas (boxes) as an instrument.

At two and a half, Truptraj won his first award for playing the tabla.  Lady Tabla Player presented the award. It was a trophy that weighed 12kg. Truptraj weighed 11kg.
