Rhami Zeini, Age 16 (Continued)

Illustrated by Aron Laikin

Rhami Zeini, high school junior, while driving home from school, saw a purse lying in the middle of the road. He opened it and found $10,000 inside. Since the purse did not contain the owner’s identification information, Rhami and his parents took it to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office.

Rhami explained, “It was the right thing to do. If the roles were reversed, and I had lost something with a significant sum of money inside, I know I would want it back, for sure.”

An officer at the Sheriff’s Office located the owner of the purse and returned the money.  The thankful owned rewarded Rhami with $100 and explained that she probably left her purse on the roof of her car when she drove away.
