Kaitlyn Falasco and her sister, Julianna Falasco (age 10), launched their business, Gentle Handz. It sells gentle, non-chemical, skin lotion bars, convenient to use while on the go. Their secret formula, comprised of raw organic ingredients, was inspired from wanting to make earth a better place. They explain, “Our lotion bars will make your skin buttery soft. The texture is light, smooth, and luxurious.”

At first, they distributed free samples in exchange for feedback on how to improve their product. A parent, who loved their product, invited the girls to participate in the Burlingame Children’s Business Fair, where they sold their artistically designed lotion bars. Julianna and Kaitlyn then participated in other children’s business fairs in their community and surrounding areas. This meant they often began their Saturdays at six in the morning to load the family car with their product, props, and tables. Sales are also derived through word of mouth, return customers, their website and a pop-up at Nordstrom’s in San Jose. Both sisters proudly explained, “Our parents have been our biggest supporters.”

Julianna and Kaitlyn want people, who are thinking and dreaming about starting something new, to enjoy the process. Together, they explained, “Each phase is very important, from the dream phase, to casting the vision, to the lab process (trial and error), to social media, to sharing your story and the reason for your passion behind your product. It’s important to know that every idea isn’t always going to work or be successful, but if you can take a positive thing from it, learn from it, and grow, you will improve yourself and your business.” They added, “Don’t let age limit you.”
