Capri Everitt, Age 11 (Continued)

Capri Everitt, in one year, sang 80 national anthems, in their respective languages, in their host countries. She traveled with her parents, Kerrie and Tom, and her brother, Bowen, who wrote a blog documenting their travels.

Capri’s goal was two-fold.  The first was to raise money for the charity SOS Children’s Villages. The idea came to her after reading Craig Kielburger’s book, The World Needs Your Kid: Raising Children Who Care and Contribute. Capri explained, “We read the book and it was about kids who didn’t have any parents and I just decided that I wanted to do something to help those kids.”

To learn each song, Capri received help from the local people, watched YouTube videos, and visited embassies. In many of the countries, children in the villages sang their national anthem with her. Capri sang her final anthem in the USA in front of large crowd at a Washington Nationals baseball game.

Capri’s second goal was to achieve a new Guinness World Records title. She achieved it.
