Mo’ne Davis became the first female to win a Little League World Series game as a pitcher. She throws a fastball clocked at 70-plus miles per hour and pitched for the Taney Dragons of Philadelphia. That year, 2014, they won 4 to 0 over South Nashville, in South Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

Mo’ne was one of two girls who played in the 2014 Little League World Series. She earned a place in the National Baseball Hall of Fame, in Cooperstown, New York, where her shutout jersey is on display.

Mo’ne was the first Little Leaguer to be featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated, in the magazine’s sixty-year history. She was also named “SportsKid of the Year” for 2014, by Sports Illustrated Kids and named one of “The 25 Most Influential Teens of 2014” by Time magazine. Spike Lee directed and produced a documentary on Mo’ne entitled I Throw Like a Girl. Mo’ne, (with Hilary Beard) wrote and published her memoir, entitled: Mo’ne Davis: Remember My Name.

Mo’ne is a multisport athlete who played basketball and soccer, while maintaining her status as an honor roll student at school.
